  1. WACV TC Meeting Vote Result

The following motion was raised and discussed at the TC meeting held at WACV 2024 in January.

Motion: In order to maintain WACV’s tradition of being receptive to applications papers:

  • WACV PCs shall create a mechanism (such as a separate track) for authors to designate their submissions as applications papers;

  • Both reviewers and meta-reviewers shall be instructed to consider submissions in accordance with this designation.

Submissions designated as applications papers shall not be rejected due solely to a lack of algorithmic novelty as long as the paper describes a distinct application that is consistent with the experimental protocol and/or datasets.

Proposed by Scott McCloskey (Kitware) and endorsed by the TC chair.

After an electronic vote was held, the motion passed.

Yes: 151 No: 10

  1. CVPR 2024: Call for Workshop Papers

CVPR 2024 is proud to host a very large number of workshops this year spanning all topics of computer vision. Workshops will take place on 6/17 and 6/18, the first two days of the conference. The complete list of workshops organized by topic track (new this year), including links to workshop-specific websites with submission guidelines, can be found here:

https://cvpr.thecvf.com/Conferences/2024/workshop-list

  1. CVPR 2024: Call for Demos

Applications for demos at CVPR 2024 are now open. If accepted, your demo will have a booth next to and concurrent with the CVPR poster session, where you can show off your work to thousands of CVPR presenters and attendees. Demos can be as complicated as a robotics demonstration or as simple as a mobile app running on a phone — the goal is to provide a compelling and intimate platform for engaging with other CVPR presenters and attendees. Demos can be associated with a publication at CVPR 2024 (or at any other conference), but this is not a requirement, and demos that do not correspond to any publication are encouraged.

Demo submission due Date: Mar 10, 2024 AOE Demo acceptance notification date: Apr 07, 2024 Demonstrations: June 19-21, 2024

  1. CVPR 2024: Call for AI Art

Computer vision techniques have long been used to make art, with tools such as GANs, Stable Diffusion and NeRF gaining popularity in recent years to create novel aesthetics, imagine new ways of seeing the world and investigate the potential of human-machine collaboration in the arts. Apart from that, artists have been looking critically into the workings and applications of object and facial recognition, producing works that highlight the limitations of the current state of technology, critique the machine’s view of the world and use the technology in unexpected ways.

At CVPR 2024, we will present a gallery of AI artworks in a dedicated space at the conference. We encourage submissions from anyone interested in AI art, whether you’re a computer vision researcher with visually engaging results or a professional artist.

Deadline for art submissions: Mar 10, 2024 AOE Art acceptance notification date: Apr 07, 2024 Art Gallery Exhibition: Jun 19-21, 2024

  1. CVPR 2024: Call for Socials

With the success of last year’s social events, we are pleased to announce the second edition of the community-driven social events at CVPR 2024. We invite proposals for social events to happen during the main conference (in-person). We strongly encourage anyone with a creative idea to apply, and be part of this important initiative!

Over the years, the computer vision community has witnessed a rapid influx of newcomers from academia and industry, resulting in a substantial growth in the number of conference attendees. While this creates a vibrant and stimulating academic environment, it has become challenging for everyone to meet new people and socialize during the conference. People who are new to the community and/or from minorities are especially facing challenges because they do not already have extensive networks in the community.

Diversity and inclusion is at the forefront of our community. To address this new challenge, we are organizing community-driven social events for the second time in CVPR. Our goal is to create a welcoming community where newcomers, and long-timers have ample opportunities to build meaningful connections and develop new collaborations. To this end, we are looking for motivated members of the community to organize social events at CVPR 2024.

Proposal Deadline: March 10, 2024 Notification by: March 31, 2024

  1. CVPR 2024: Call for DEI Support

The CVPR community is strongly committed to addressing issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at our conference.  Diversity has many dimensions, including gender, race, ethnicity, age, disabilities, religious belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and cultural background. There is no place for hatred and discrimination in the CVPR community or elsewhere.

CVPR’24 is committed to supporting students from communities that do not traditionally attend CVPR through registration and travel support. Allocation is based on a combination of need, contribution to the conference, where you are traveling from, the community(ies) you identify with and advisor support.

If you would like to be considered for this support, please see the instructions here: https://cvpr.thecvf.com/Conferences/2024/DEI

Decisions will be made on a rolling basis. Applications will be accepted until April 19 2024 (anywhere on earth).

  1. Information Needed: Awards Given Prior to 2000

It has come to the attention of the PAMI-TC officers that comprehensive records for awards given out at major computer vision meetings (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV) is not available. In an effort to document our field’s history, we are asking the community to help us fill the gap in our knowledge. If you have information about awards given prior to the year 2000, please contact TC Chair Walter Scheirer ([email protected]).
